Wolfe’s Neck Center has a need for seasonal and year-round volunteers that are willing to help in various aspects of our operation.
For all ongoing opportunities, please fill out the volunteer application here.
Wolfe’s Neck Center’s vast acreage serves as the backdrop to many families’ meaningful and memorable experiences during the spring, summer, and fall. As the snow retreats in the spring, we always discover leaves, branches, and other debris that winter leaves behind across our property. Working with our Outdoor Maintenance Manager, volunteers will tidy our common areas, campsites, and trails by raking leaves, clearing brush, and generally making all of these areas welcoming to the public and our guests. Volunteers who identify themselves as having particular skillsets, such as gardening, painting, or carpentry, may be assigned to projects that utilize their skills. This is physical work that involves moderate bending, pulling, and lifting during most weather conditions.
Wolfe’s Neck Center is looking for enthusiastic and reliable community members to support our education team on the weekends. We are looking for people who are interested in caring for our education animals and willing to help answer questions and educate visitors about Wolfe’s Neck Center’s mission. Farm Docents will be trained to safely care for a variety of small livestock including goats, sheep, rabbits, and chickens, as well as how to educate visitors about our operations, facilities, livestock, agricultural practices, mission, etc. These volunteers must be friendly, enjoy and be interested in talking to the public, and willing to learn about all the different elements of the farm.
They’re passionate, mature, and responsible young adult volunteers (15-18 years of age) looking to gain leadership experience while learning about sustainable agriculture and local ecology. Working with their group, JCs spend their days outside assisting with camp activities and encouraging the curiosity of campers.
As a JC you will: Develop leadership skills, build experience for your college applications and resume, and have the opportunity to fulfill service requirements. JCs can choose to sign up for one or more of our 10 Farm Camp weeks. As this is a day camp, we do not have residential options available for Junior Counselors. There is no fee for participating in the JC program, but it requires an application and commitment from participants. Learn more about the JC program here.
In anticipation of the busy season, we host large volunteer events every spring to clean up and prepare our campus.
It takes a lot of work to get Wolfe’s Neck Center up and ready for the season, and it would be impossible without the help of our incredible volunteer community. Held annually around Earth Day, volunteers can join us for a full day by signing up on the form below. All volunteer work will involve manual work. We’ll also be providing a cookout lunch for all of our volunteers featuring our very own Wolfe’s Neck Center food!

Event volunteers assist with a range of tasks including event set-up and clean-up, parking, registration, activities, crafts, face painting, flower arrangement and decoration, and food & drink preparation and service. We are also always looking for those to assist in visitor support, answering questions, directing visitors, and and managing lines.
